Bring your Summer Nights Shadow Box Kit to life with two beautiful textured tree techniques! By layering greens and adding simple brush details, you can create depth, dimension, and that rich, summer forest feel - full of movement and character.
WHY TRY THIS TECHNIQUE?
Layering different shades of green adds instant depth and realism to your trees. Whether you prefer a soft, blended look or bold textured branches, these techniques help your trees stand out and feel full and dimensional.
This method works perfectly for forest scenes, layered landscapes, and any design where you want that natural, textured finish.
HOW TO DO IT
Start by painting both tree layers with a white base coat to make your colors more vibrant. (Alternatively, apply two coats of your chosen green.) Let dry completely.
Paint your first set of trees using your second darkest green. Once dry, take your darkest green, angle your brush, and use the edge to dab short lines onto the tree to create texture.
Leave small gaps between strokes to keep it natural. If your tree feels too dark, layer in a few light green strokes to brighten and balance it.
Paint the next set of trees using your lightest green. Once dry, use your second darkest green, then your darkest green, to add downward strokes following the natural direction of each branch.
This creates depth and shadow while keeping the branch shape visible.
Finish both styles by painting the tree trunks brown.
